Our Maritime Focus centers on promotion of knowledge of the oceans, for the betterment of individuals, communities and the environment. We support projects and programs that improve the health, safety and welfare of seafarers, maritime education and training, and strengthen maritime security. We also support sailing projects, environmental projects and programs that shed light on maritime history.

Youth Sailing RFP
The TK Foundation, in partnership with the Orange County Community Foundation, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity for nonprofit youth sailing programs that are reaching motivated disadvantaged youth. Winning programs will offer youth an up-close and personal relationship with the water, provide them with opportunities to challenge themselves in a water environment, teach responsible seamanship and stewardship and help them develop important life skills. Eligible applicants must be registered nonprofit public benefit corporations exempt from federal income taxes under their local country’s Internal Revenue Codes.
The TK Foundation has set aside $200,000 USD to be awarded in grants to successful applicants. Grant requests may range from $4,000 – $10,000 USD. Multi-year grant requests of up to three years will be considered.
This grant opportunity is being administered as a partnership between the TK Foundation and the Orange County Community Foundation.
The relevant dates are as follows:
- Proposals due: August 31, 2013
- Grant decisions announced: November 15, 2013
- Grant funding period: November 30, 2013 up to November 30, 2016

Maritime Conference RFP
Proposals Due: Applications must be submitted at least 2 months prior to the conference
The TK Foundation believes that conferences devoted to knowledge sharing in the maritime realm can have significant positive outcomes for conference participants. TK Foundation grant funds are being made available to support eligible participants in attending maritime conferences. We believe that in addition to classroom experience, maritime conference attendance can offer eligible participants current knowledge of the continually evolving real-world maritime industry while encouraging continuous individual professional development and awareness of the vibrant maritime industry.
