Scholarships & Conferences

We strongly support young people’s efforts to explore the maritime realm as a career path. Students in their sophomore, junior or senior years, enrolled or enrolling in maritime majors at U.S. Universities, are invited to apply for The TK Foundation Maritime Scholarship for grants up to $10,000 per year.

The TK Foundation believes that conferences devoted to knowledge sharing in the maritime realm can have significant positive outcomes for conference participants. TK Foundation grant funds are being made available to support eligible participants in attending maritime conferences.

Who We Are

The TK Foundation is a private independent foundation organized in the Bahamas in 2002. The Foundation is named for J. Torben Karlshoej, “T.K.”, who grew up on a farm in Denmark and later founded the Teekay Shipping Company, now Teekay Corporation.

The TK Foundation’s mission is to fulfill the legacy of J. Torben Karlshoej by enabling disadvantaged youth to succeed and promoting maritime education and safety.
